Julia Brown

3 tours from £619pp

Expert Overview

Julia lived in a beautiful village, just north of the lovely Georgian town of Stamford in the County of Rutland, for 40 years. She has enjoyed family life with her husband and daughter and the Village/Farming community, where her joy of walking, gardening and animals came to the fore.

Julia ran the Village Drama Group, served on the Village Hall and Village Fete committees, as well as running a children's club, whilst enjoying the surrounding countryside on horseback and dog walking.

Her working life has always been around people and children. Teaching at Nursery School to later becoming an Event Manager and Property Manager where her organisational were of utmost importance.

Julia moved to St Leonards 12 years ago to live near her daughter, husband, and two grandchildren. It was here that she learnt to play bridge. Julia now teaches bridge to beginners and runs a supervised play session once a week. It is important to her that people learn in a friendly, welcoming environment at the pace they feel happy with.

Julia's favourite bridge destination has to be Lake Bled, Slovenia, with the stunning backdrop of the lake and mountains.

Her other interests are leading a Walking Group and running a Gardening Group, and of course spending time with her family and friends

Anne Wright

Anne is a host who works alongside our directors with the aim of ensuring that everyone enjoys their bridge holiday. She is friendly and approachable and enjoys her bridge, playing in several competitions near her home in Leicestershire. Anne is a qualified bridge director, and she looks forward to welcoming players of all standards.
Mark Hooper

Mark Hooper

Mark learned the basics of bridge in his early teens from his father, and later played informally at school. It wasn’t until university that he began playing regularly in clubs. Remarkably, Mark is entirely self-taught, having never taken formal lessons – instead learning through books and conversations with fellow enthusiasts. With over 50 years of experience at the bridge table, he has played continuously since university, including at EBU congress level and as part of his county team.
